Cost: Monthly attendance – R100 for members, R120 if not pre-booked, R150 for guests. No show charge is R100.

Booking: Please print your name on the booking sheet for the April 2020 meeting. If you missed it
when the sheet was handed around during the talk, you can sign at the Hospitality Table
on the way out. Alternatively, Bookings can be made on the Wednesday before the
meeting via email at iwcjoburgsa.hospitality@gmail.com.
Cancellations: Must be made by 5pm on the Wednesday prior to the General Meeting; otherwise you
will be required to pay in full.
Today’s Speaker: John Cade
Life Lessons from the Classroom Applied to 2020 and Beyond
John Cade was born in Barrow-in -Furness, Cumbria, UK. He is the oldest of three
children. John attended St Bees School in Cumbria as a boarder, then went on to St David’s
University College of Wales in Lampeter. After graduating, he spent a year as a Gap student
at his former prep school situated on the shores of Lake Windermere in the English Lake
District. He furthered his studies at the Carnegie School of Physical Education in Leeds
before spending six years teaching at Milton Abbey School in Dorset.
Arriving in South Africa in 1976, John taught at St Peter’s Prep School in Johannesburg
before moving to St John’s College in the same city, and then to St Alban’s College in
Pretoria as Head of the History Department and as a Housemaster. In 1987 he returned to
St Peter’s as the Deputy Head.
John lives in Johannesburg with his wife, Janet, and two daughters. He is an avid reader
and golfer who loves rugby and all genres of music. He has published his first book, Piet
and Paula – Housemaster: Wanted Dead or Alive. He is currently working on the sequel.
